I have been a zombie. Yes, I know that sounds insane. How could I have been one yet no longer be one and still be alive? Settle yourself down with a nice cuppa and I’ll fill you in …
Many years ago when I began walking this section of my soul path (well, when I say began, I mean consciously began, this section started the moment I was born. As did yours. But I digress.) As I was saying, back when I began to explore who I am, and why I’m here, there was a big hullaballoo going on around the ego. It was all ‘Smash the Ego!’, ‘Vanquish the Ego!’, ‘Conquer the Ego!’. People were really into destroying it completely - actually there’s still a bit of that around today – but my point is that the Ego was seen as BAD. And in my enthusiasm to get it right, and do things properly, I totally went for it! Which is where the zombie problem comes in.
You see, another name for our ego is our personality. And if we squash all of it, we can’t communicate at all. We can’t share who we are with others. Actually it makes us completely non-functioning … you guessed it … zombies!
Because it’s not about killing the ego at all. It’s about focusing on all the good bits (of which there are plenty, by the way) whilst looking at the bits that trip us up and, instead of letting them run riot, addressing them and moving on. It’s about expressing the best of us out into the world through our personality instead of trying to kill it! The mistake I was making was trying to squish it completely and that was exhausting! (So now you know why zombies always look so tired.)
This month, we’re talking about Being - being the best of ourselves. And a great place to start is by recognising and acknowledging the best of who we are. Each one of us has our own natural strengths and talents even though we don’t always recognise them. Sometimes we don’t see them because they come so naturally, we take them for granted. Sometimes we’re focusing on the bits we don’t like instead. But this month, why not take a little time to see where you shine? It’s as easy as taking a piece of paper and pen and writing a list.
Maybe you’re the person that others turn to when they need to understand the detail of a situation, maybe it’s the opposite and your talent lies in sharing the big picture. Or it could be that you’re known for your creativity or compassion or communication skills? Once you see one strength, it will help you to see others.
And if you’re still at a loss after those suggestions, you could take a look at your birth chart. A lot of who you are is revealed there. Maybe you’re a hard-working, methodical, reliable Capricorn? Maybe you’re a nurturing, intuitive, sensitive Cancerian? Maybe a fun-loving, friendly, cooperative Libran? So much of who you are and where you're going is sitting in your chart just waiting to be revealed! (And if you’d like to explore this more, click here to send me an email!)
But whoever you be, don’t be a zombie!
